Madison Co. Virginia | Can these fancy "lab meats" utilize waste products like distiller's grains, soybean meal, and corn stalks? The glory of "beef-on-the-hoof" is that it comes with a very sophisticated mechanism to convert "junk" into the sugars needed for meat production.
I expect lab meat will only take away a small share of the beef market. "Veggie-meats" will grab a bigger share. There will be three tiers of meat at McDonalds. The mcdoubles will be "veggie-burgers," the big macs will be real beef, and the 12 dollar sandwich will be lab-grown meat. | |
