I haven't started any appraisals, yet. The factor that we are supposed to use, especially for the least mature corn is not real accurate that I have seen. When the corn becomes mature enough to be able to use the moisture tester, you get a lot closer. Basically, though a 20+# sample is needed to indicate good corn.
I questioned my appraisal's and felt like they were low. One field I stopped chopping in as it appeared to be 160-180 bushel corn, but it appraised at 135. When I asked the appraiser how accurate it was, they said not very accurate at this stage. |
