Subject: drought and markets

Southeast South Dakota
I am no marketer - but I will throw in my two cents.......
I keep hearing over and over and over that the markets aren't going up and the conditions are bad........

Ask yourself, how long can the average or even the far majority of guys go without selling any crop?
Right now, there is no shortage, so why pay more than you have to?

For all the people that will HAVE to move some crop to markets before the end of the year to make payments, or to have enough storage room, that is even more coming into the supply chain....if I was a buyer why would I raise my my price now, when I KNOW there is more crop coming in for sure before the end of year. ONLY when supply is getting tight would I have to offer more than the other buyers to get my share.

So in my reasoning, I don't see any reason for the prices to go up until the SUPPLY is starting to get exhausted...... not just the predictions of supply getting exhausted......
