ecmn | We are in bigger trouble than most guys realize. Talked to a friend yesterday in central MN, their middle range maturity corn didn't pollinate very well at all and if it doesn't rain soon he said the later stuff will be worse. His comment was "it sure looks good until you walk in and look at the ears".
Our corn is behind. The early planted stuff looks decent but we are drying out and pollination is upon us. We will need rain this week but chances aren't good. The later planted stuff is a week or better from pollination so we really need rain for that and if it freezes before October 10th there will be trouble here.
Was feeling pretty good about this crop until the last 5 days. This is getting serious now. Nothing we can do but wait and see what we get and try not to worry about it too much. Sounds easy, right? | |
