Subject: Instead of arguing about crop size now......

Western Iowa
When will Chicago traders realize (and us farmers) the true picture on what is actually in the fields?

Will it be in a month when Pro farmer and others walk fields?

Will it be in Oct when the combines start to tell the story?

Will it be in Jan when we have more concrete numbers?

I think firming up this timeline will be beneficial for knowing when to get into or out of this market depending on your inner bull/ bear.

FYI I am in the 155-158 camp on corn. Beans will be short, way short, but I think South America will crush any chance of a huge rally, unless the FROST word comes into play, and it sure could with the timeline most of the beans are on, then I don't have a clue. I am much more attentive in corn though, as I don't have an acre of beans myself this year. Corn will be held back on the carry over number, but I think does have some upside. Basis will really be a wild card depending on last years production. Locally here the basis has narrowed a good 0.10 the last couple weeks. Hopeful considering we had a home run of a corn crop the last 2 years. We won't run out of corn here for a long time yet.........
