East-Central SD | I believe you...took a trip from Huron to Vermillion today and went the hwy 14 over to I29 and south from there so drove right through your area. Lots of water in the ditches along hwy 14 and even going to be some drown out spots in corn fields that had existing stands. Not big areas but a few. Was actually surprised how well things looked the whole way from what I've heard from area farmers. Think there is still great potential in those areas on both corn and beans as long as we can stay away from extreme heat and get some rain in August..time will only tell but in my opinion parts of SD will have pretty good yields again. | |
