moline illinois | I have to agree with you. Even with the big crop from 2016 the gross dollars per acre are going to be down from last year on corn for me. I am sold out of old crop corn from the previous rallies but only averaged $3.70 picked up on the farm, so at least the freight was already taken out of that. Beans were better as I was able to get 10 and had a great yield. I did forward sell 17 beans for the same.
Usually if a guy puts the crop in the bin the market will give you the dollars per acre you need. This year it didn't happen, mostly because the basis widened so much. Kind of a shame to grow such a nice crop and have corn revenue go down an a per acre basis.
So yes, i agree it's been a struggle this year. | |
