Subject: tale of 2 cows and a calf

North Mo.
Ok told of a heifer last weekend did not want her calf to nurse. Fast forward to today same story, in her defense the calf hits her udder hard like getting no milk. Well it is, cause the calf runs and jumps like a baby lamb and I have pulled milk easy out of her. the catch is for a heifer she has a poor udder say a 2 on bag with 5 on teats. So the other day son had a cow that had a extreme small calf that was blind in one eye and other cloudy, neighbor was hand feeding it. Couple days ago took my calf to this cow in a chute calf nursed quietly no hitting, tail wagging and cow just stood there. So tonight the sons cow's calf died and I laid claim to the cow, brought back up to my chute put cow and calf together and just like the other day a quite nurse.
So heifer is going to pasture so to speak even through she claims her calf. The only thing I can figure is her teats are to long for the calf to get a good suck. Which I can't say I have ever had happen on such a active calf.
Any thoughts???
