Subject: RE: Poultry barns

Elkmont, AL
Anything to acidify the bare pad should help some. I've used salt, plt, acidified alum, HCL acid and diesel fuel. I felt like they have all helped. Companies generally frown on the diesel fuel. Dermatitis is caused by multiple types of clostridium spp., bacteria hate acid. That said, I've found that when the company doesn't know what's killing birds they call it dermatitis. Unfortunately with the push to completely antibiotic free birds, lots of old diseases and problems are gonna reappear.
