I would rule out the bull. Twins are the result of the female releasing more than 1 egg, or the egg splitting (identical twins). The only affect the bull can have on twins or not is the likelihood of passing on the genetics to his daughters, who may later have twins. It's hard to tell what may be causing so many for you this year. Since it's in the early stage of your calving, one thought is that the ones born dead may have been premature and something was wrong with them or the pregnancy that put the cow into labor early? Always more risks with a twin pregnancy. Some folks think nutrition have a lot to do with it but I haven't seen that myself. I'd lean towards 'bad luck'.
