I agree that the Jones Act can go. Given the small number of remaining US flagged vessels, any real advantage to our economy has long since diminish to zero.
But it raises the question of the wisdom of the "Border Adjustment Tax". Isn't the Border Adjustment Tax just another protectionist measure who's natural consequence economic inefficiency?
I've been studying Steve Bannon's "economic nationalism". In the end all it really amounts to is protectionism of uncompetitive businesses and workers. I've been reading articles about the people left behind in the global economy. The fact is some of them aren't all that ambitious or industrious. If we're honest with ourselves, we really don't expect very much from many of our children. Maybe we need to make it clear to them much earlier that they will really need to hustle much harder to survive in this modern world. The easy life is long gone.
