east grand forks, mn | My thoughts exactly! If the ground is fit, the beans treated with a fungicide and 58* I wouldn't hesitate at all. I have planted many times in 55* +/- soil temp and have always seen the beans sprout and grow. They are't growing as fast as if the ground was warmer, but they were still growing. I also have seen and believe the earlier planted beans are also usually the best. If you leave any seed in the bag it will never grow. I have also seen beans push a 3/4"- 1" heavy black clay crust up to emerge. I haven't seen a crust being a problem with soybeans however everybody knows their own ground best.
