Southern IL | had to have a large oak cut down in yard....starting to die and drop limbs on house, hollow spot in base, afraid we were one wind storm away from a disaster. Its over 48 inches across at the stump, Im cutting the top into firewood, but wanted to make something out of the log, had a bird feeder on one side, so it has a few nails on one side. (so probably lumber is out of the question) Id like to cut a cross section about 4 inches thick and make a table top or something. Any ideas? suggestions? How would I keep it from cracking? Hate to cut it all up into firewood, the tree is over 100+ years old, Makes me sick to have to cut it down. Thanks | |
