Have you ever donated a beef to a food pantry? It's gone in minutes, not hours. They know how to cook it and would eat it everyday, but they can't afford it. We have made beef a luxury item in a country where 57%:of the consumers are struggling financially and 15% are in poverty. Do you want to cut the price of live cattle down to .60 so beef is affordable to all? I'll take a 1.20 or 1.30 and export over the thought of dropping the price to increase domestic consumption.

As far as the decline due to imports, we have only been a net exporter for 4 years - 2010, 2011, 2012, & 2013. We had some really good years when imports were the highest.
