NE Oregon | 2 years ago had a cow bust her calf's leg above the hock at branding, didn't do anything but let it live, by weaning you couldn't tell.
Last summer we had a 350 on calf injure its front leg up high, maybe a break or shoulder separation? Never had s vet check it out but hauled the pair home to be on easy pasture, couple of months later couldn't even tell.
Also have a 3 year old bull break his back leg above the hock last summer, looked bad. He lost a ton of weight and barely got around. I wanted to put him down but dad thought it might mend enough to haul to a sale. And I'll be damned if it didn't heal up and he puts weight on it now, gained all his weight back. Haven't sold him yet cause of major discounts to anything with a limp here locally, but he's doing well.
I say give it time, I bet by fall you won't even notice it. | |
