I heard today that there is a lot of baby calves to feed in the burned area down in sw ks. They said what happened is the cow would lay on downwind side of calf and the fire would go over her and not get the calf. I thought this sounded interesting didn't know a cow was that smart/protective. A 4H group down there agreed to bottle feed the babies.
