Subject: RE: Post on living forever

I think the homes are all situational. My wife's parents were to the point where they could not take care of themselves. When they moved to assisted living, their health and relationships improved. It was like a huge burden was lifted from their shoulders. Was it a great place? No, but the way they were living was not good either.

Every now and then you hear about folks who passed suddenly, and I tend to think- "It would be great if that is how I went." The one story that has stuck with me was the guy who had been out on the lake fishing. He and his buddy had a great day, and they were loading the boat onto the trailer. His buddy had driven the boat up onto the trailer, and was waiting for him to drive forward, pulling the boat out of the lake. Instead, he just sat there, vehicle idling in park. Eventually, he climbed out of the boat and walked up to the pickup. The guy was gone. Sitting in the pickup, massive heart attack or something. Not a bad way to go.
