When we still had a few cattle around the best job of cracking corn that I ever was able to do with our hammermill was with a 3/4" screen in the mill, run corn into the mill as fast as possible (we had a 6" auger out of the bin) and run the tractor just fast enough to pull the load without choking.
Not roller mill quality but it was satisfactory for me.
Can you tell me about a roller mill grinder?
