East Central Illinois. 39.346676, -87.653484 | The rails are 13.5' long (12.5' when using prepunched holes), I always use 4x6 and drill all the way through to attach with carriage headed bolts as lag screws seem to work loose as wood dries.
Unless you're handling aggressive bulls non stop it seems RR ties would be overkill, but if they are available free/cheap go for it. |
