I have only seen it on hay ground. The ones that have done it around here ran 300 half rated, splitting the middles. Worked good but they had fairly clean fields to start with.
I can see the problem. Same difference as using a flat fan tip vs say a large droplet turbo or ai tip. Better the coverage, the better the kill. Doesn't always work to well going through the ground and only so many pellets will stick to the leaves.
