Subject: Corn screenings question

Ludington/Manistee MI area
I got a decent amount of grain screenings and two steers soon to hopefully be 4-5. Anyway the two have been getting a 5 gallons bucket of screenings a day each. This fall I had a little bit of pig feed left over from my annual summer batch so I put a liitle bit in the bottom of the bucket( feed guy said nothing was added that isn't rumminant friendly to the pig feed). I felt they gained a bit better with the extra protein. Trying to add protein on the cheap do I sprinkle in a little distillers? Soymeal? Protein tub? Or do it just let them be? Hay is decent looking grass but nothing special. Thoughts? I know the guys on here know much more about beef than I do.
