Subject: RE: Feeding high moisture wrapped hay

Driftless SW Wisconsin

Sounds like what my bred cows and heifers have been eating all winter. I would just put it out in rings with maybe one bale of lower protein grassy dry hay, everything free choice. Let them balance their own ration.  I think it would be good for any of the groups you mention.  Having a dry bale out may reduce any tummy aches while they adjust.  You don't really need to mix with any corn silage, just put the bales out. Save the silage for any steers you are finishing. A nice problem to have. Will hopefully reduce your work load.

It looks like I am not going to use up all of my wrapped hay from last year before starting rotational grazing. I hope it keeps well over the summer.
