west michigan | Thanks for all the replies. I am going to try removing the stationary bars for a couple days and see if that helps. I think our lockups are mounted low enough, in fact they might be too low. Quite often I have to put either a small amount of feed down or put it too far away and push it up later to get them to put there heads down far enough to actually lock up when I need them too. Also will try letting them get a little hungry as that always seems like a good motivator! Here are a couple pics of the headlocks for reference. The cement curb they sit above is 10 inches above the feed pad and 16 inches above where the heifers stand.
