(Non beef cow guy) ..... How tight of a calving season do you shoot for? Wouldn't longer calving season spread out weaning and when you can sell calves helping you spread your income a bit?
Funny you should mention that... 5 years ago we had a horrendously hot June and July that really messed with conception rate and then I had a bull go bad 2 years ago in the middle of breeding season SO... I'm scattered all over the place anyway ):/ and yes, it does help cash flow but weaning is a pain in the butt... too many calves of different ages |
