I was at a meeting yesterday and one of the attendees said they bedded their cattle with wood chips (not shaving), but composted the manure before spreading. The presenter said he had dealt with a producer who had spread a bunch of free bed pack manure per acre and was using 2# of N for every bu/ac produced for 3 years before the carbon was all converted.
Has anyone ever tried this?
