Subject: DIY HVAC

North Central Indiana
We bought the house right next to our farm shop because it was cheap, an eyesore that needed to be cleaned up and the wife is a faithful watcher of "Fixer Upper". We completely gutted it to the studs, floor and ceiling joists. The existing gas furnace didn't work, but I got it cobbled to at least heat some while we're working there. Quotes for replacing the furnace and old r22 ac are from $11K to $6K. Seems kind of high for just putting a new unit in place, connecting to gas and electric (that I installed) and connecting to existing ductwork. On the inter web the parts quoted to me by my contractors are about $2100. I've installed things from ECM in A-10s to grain dryers to printing presses. I'm tempted to diy it and keep 4-9 grand in my pocket and deal with service and warranties as they may be. Anyone else diy their hvac and how did it go? TIA
