North Central Indiana | We bought the house right next to our farm shop because it was cheap, an eyesore that needed to be cleaned up and the wife is a faithful watcher of "Fixer Upper". We completely gutted it to the studs, floor and ceiling joists. The existing gas furnace didn't work, but I got it cobbled to at least heat some while we're working there. Quotes for replacing the furnace and old r22 ac are from $11K to $6K. Seems kind of high for just putting a new unit in place, connecting to gas and electric (that I installed) and connecting to existing ductwork. On the inter web the parts quoted to me by my contractors are about $2100. I've installed things from ECM in A-10s to grain dryers to printing presses. I'm tempted to diy it and keep 4-9 grand in my pocket and deal with service and warranties as they may be. Anyone else diy their hvac and how did it go? TIA | |
