| Case released a new tool kit to the dealers about a year ago.
The tool realigns the shaker shaft to the separator side frames. If the shaker shaft isn't true to the frames, the whole shaker system thing is out of square and it will be out of time. Turns out that the shaker shaft on about 90% of the combines we have seen are not square to the frame. Even ones where the shaker shaft bearing supports have not moved, according to the factory paint marks. Go figure....
Yes, bushings are important. It wouldn't hurt to beef up the welds on the sieves, and on the shoe & chaffer sieve carrier frames. But if the whole thing isn't square and timed, you are p****** in the wind.
Contact your Case-IH dealer. If they don't have this tool, they'd better get one ASAP. Start with the shaker shaft. You have to remove the shaker shaft pitman arm cams from both sides in order to fit the tool the shaft & the frame. With the arms off, takes less than 45 minutes to realign the shaft. Everybody with a 2-year old or older machine ought to get it done this winter. If you have a shaker system failure, you ought to get it done NOW.
Added on edit: The tool kit is number 380002781 or new number 87583611. Your dealer can obtain full details in CNH's ASIST website by searching "alignment tool for shaker shaft".
