Years ago, all those 855 blocks used to crack the counter bores. At overhaul, they would cut the upper and lower counter bores, and then put in press fit inserts. I would've thought they all would've been done by now. I suppose if it was a truck that hardly got used, only for farm use, it maybe was never done. Some of the counter bores would actually crack down the middle of the block, especially if they were turned up, wrecking everything.
