Subject: trading cattle, diary cows/heifers

south central WI
We expanded, bought cows end of 2014 through early 2015. We had a breeding discrepancy where our heifers weren't getting bred. Pregnancy checks sent to us said they were...long story. We switched breeders and now we have 100 heifers calving in 1 month, I think it's may. We will have a lot of empty stalls starting mid feb until then. We are nowhere near a closed herd so that doesn't worry me. Has anyone switched cattle with others? We take 20-50 heifers and give them the same amount when ours are calving, maybe some cash also due to earlier milk. I don't want to buy cows to fill in and then sell later, but could. I also don't want 100 empty stalls in a 600 cow barn when milk prices are finally looking decent.
Opinions :buy/sell, trade, or wait?
