Near-north Ontario, French River | Take highway 3 to Talbotville, then jump north to 401, its less than 10miles. What are your interests? If you've never been to it, the CN Tower is a marvel . If you are into history old Fort York is really close to the tower as well. Staying in Toronto overnight? Consider riding the subway/street cars if visiting sites in the core, much more tourist friendly if you don't know you way around town. Its an outside shot but you might try for tickets to a NHL hockey game or NBA basketball, for once the teams are somewhat respectable LOL. Plenty of broadway style shows in the theatre district as well, if that's your thing. Try to stay off the 407 if you can, its the province's only toll road, great for getting through Toronto quickly but if you are looking to explore a bit it's an needless expense. The Toronto Science Center, and Royal Ontario Museum are also good, but you will burn a full day at least if you go. Or a tour of the Parlimament buildings perhaps, regardless of your political leaning the architecture is breathtaking.
