I've moved refrigerators lying down on their back. I let them stand upright for at least 24 hours before plugging them in.
I have also moved a fridge upright in a truck with a tool box. The best way I found to strap it was to run a ratchet strap through the open cab doors around the fridge. Modern fridges are very bottom heavy.
I've never moved a freezer lying down, no help there.
