the 2000 can map, but just can't show it onscreen.
you can dump the data to the PC without a card, but you can do this only with the summary data (no GPS). There is a kit from CIH (or AgLeader) that allows to to power the YM2000 in the house, and connect it to your computer. Then you use Hyperterminal to download the data. It's not pretty, but it works.
