If it's not the cables or other stuff mentioned, what versions of firmware and software and app are you running? It is easy to get them out of phase to each other, and then the controller disconnects from the drone, and the drone flies itself back home. Or doesn't even get going just says it's not connected. I will guess it's this issue. Depending what version of which model you have, updating the drone itself is a little strange, see the link and do some reading as the other fella mentioned.
