CIL | IMO part of it is....there's been the preaching (of which I'm a believer), that you have a narrow window to actually kill something like waterhemp at 4 inches max. Most stuff after that is just making it angry. So if you've got only a couple days to hit that window with how fast waterhemp or palmer can grow, you don't want to start have to plan to double your acres by having to do another round of spraying. A two pass post plan works if you kill all the weeds the first time and go after another flush, but a decent shot of residual in the first app, assuming it works, should prevent the second and get you to canopy. Besides, after that it's break out the row cultivator and bean hook. Full disclosure, I haven't done liberty...so I'm speaking from a background in RR with conventional tillage. It still works for us. | |
