Subject: plumbing question

NW Illinois
Basement toilet is below septic tank top so I have a chopper pump in about a 30 gal. pit below floor level. Has worked fine for 3 years then not gradual but all of a sudden toilet doesn't flush right, this pit has a vent pipe up thru roof. After inspection all is as it should be and toilet flushes fine with pit lid off, put lid back on and same problem. Hard for me to believe but could a plugged vent not letting pit vent be causing this problem? Thanks for any ideas.
