Subject: 4K video viewing?

Chebanse, IL.....

I've gotten a couple of drone videos from some trusted friends. They gave them to me on flash drives. I suspect these videos are shot in 4K because when I view them with normal players, they're "herky-jerky". Like play 2 seconds, pause 2 seconds, play 2 seconds, pause 2 seconds, etc, etc.

Is this how 4K appears if it's not viewed with the correct player? Is there some type of player I should download for 4K? Or, should I convert these videos to 1080 or 720 or something like that? If I do that, I assume I lose quality....right? Don't really want to lose any.

I've tried various computers with same result. I'm absolutely sure one of the computers I've used has more than enough horsepower....and it's "chipped" besides that!

Suggestions?
