Wheelersburg and Lancaster, Ohio | Most years here it pays big-time. If it's a dry year the roots can get down to more moisture. If it's a wet year water can soak in and not drown out crops. I have to rip about 2 feet to get through our hard pan. Few times I've skipped a field I've seen as much as 100 bushel gain in a dry year, as in 0 yield on notill and 100 bushel per acre where ripped. And maybe 30 bushel gain in a real wet year just from no drowned out spots. The wet year advantages are not as noticeable where we have good drainage.
