North of London | Post below about invisible dog fences got me remembering an electric fence i had many years ago.
Used to feed dry bred sows on a concrete pad along a barn that they resided in awaiting farrowing.
The yard was enclosed by a good pig proof fence but when wet weather came I put a wire along the cement pad to keep them out of the mud.
1 sow kept getting off the cement pad while all others remained behind the wire and could not find out how she got out.
One day it sounded like someone was torturing one of the sows as a great screaming was coming form the yard and before I got to see what was happening all was quiet and everything was fine except that sow was out in the dirt area again.
Eventually happened to see what was occurring as the sow would back up into a corner of the barns and start screaming and then run fast and duck under the wire to make her escape. | |
