Its an 1990 7.3 so its IDI. the tractor does have the aftermarket road gear, idk if that would make a difference in the speed. Would it be the best to do an additional vehicle transmission along with the f20 tranny or would it work best to do a clutch on the 7.3 straight to the f20 tranny. If you get what im trying to say.


Most transmissions only slow down the speed, not increase it. The only exception to that is an overdrive, which means that the output of the transmission is turning more RPM than the input shaft. So sticking a transmission in between the 7.3 and the tractor isn't going to improve the speed. Adding a transmission in between could give you some scary slow pulling speeds, probably several gears under one mph.
