Subject: Computer software - which one?

I'm looking for a computer software program that I can use to monitor my fields - in particular I would like to have planting and harvest data, plus a way to track nutrients as far as what has been applied where and when. I don't plan on doing anything too fancy like prescriptions, scouting, etc. but want to leave that open for the future as I get more comfortable.
Overall goal is to have something very simple that I can take to a couple different agronomists/seed salesman so everyone is playing on the same field. Right now, local coop agronomist has it all and I feel like he has an unfair advantage and can make better recommendations than his competitors.
Of course, I would love a free version :), but also understand you get what you pay for.
I've heard a lot of good about SMS, and seems like quite a few of agronomists use SMS, but open to suggestions?
