S Illinois | If your waiting for perfect growing conditions, you will be waiting for a long time. 2004 was the best growing season we have likely ever seen in the corn belt with abnormally cool and sunny summer weather. However go ask those in the Dakotas, and Minn how that year went for them. Despite insitance from some of those up north heat and humidty does not grow great corn no matter how much moisture one has or how much test weight they think heat adds. So heat kills yield down south and cool kills yields up north. Our nationwide corn yield average deviation however should flatten as the corn growing areas expand. | |
