Oklahoma Panhandle | If there is feeding of wheat it is minimal. It looks like every feed yard has stacked up corn everywhere they can.
The ground piles at the elevators aren't growing as fast as usual for two reasons. 1.) The end users were running on fumes waiting for new crop. 2.) The crop isn't there.
Most feed yards out here have augers and with the extremely fast dry down they are competing nicely with the elevators.
I think what You are missing with your UPA bid is the fact that it takes 50 cents to get it from the elevator to the yard with a handling charge and freight.
The farmer will bring corn there for 10 cents or less depending on how mad he is. Plus he gets free storage and he can price it whenever or a tench each month depending on the yard.
