We polyed the lower auger in a grain cart once it wore down pretty good. It's been on it for a while, finally had to change out the upper end pics where it pushes the grain to the upper auger, I think corn got under it and rolled it up a bit and it peeled a piece back. I think it will be fine now, we put in a couple extra bolts.
