West central missouri
When farmers depended on selling eggs what you described was common and had to be dealt with. The most common method was to put a couple of wooden eggs in the nest and leave them until the egg swallowed them. You continue to collect eggs, sooner or later the snake will swallow the wooden eggs and it will kill it. It used to be easier to find anatomically correct eggs. About 10 years ago I found some in Branson, MO, so I assume they are used to create a rustic look.
