Deer, antelope, elk just hop across them if need be but usually just hop the fence instead.  Every now and then you get a cow that will do the same.  Only thing I've seen keep deer out is a very tall fence



Suggestion now instead of 8' fence (which does let some of them pass) is a double fence with a careful distance between the two fences.
Don't remember the specifics though.

The idea is that they jump the first fence and run into the second one which puts them back over the first one IIRC.

Never tried one so YMMV.

If I needed to get through the gates I would make solar powered remote opening ones and then carry the openers.
