I quit using brokers several years ago and started using Fidelity. I can pick and choose my own mutual funds fine thank you very much.

Neighbor elderly man uses Edward Jones and it is shameful how much commission he has to pay for simple stock trades. Considering I can do the same thing for $7.99 per trade with Fidelity. He is not interested in using a computer and doing it himself online though.




I agree and disagree with you. If you have the time to analyze stocks and follow markets, you can do it yourself easily. If you are clueless, one might be better off with EDJ. At one time, I followed the markets. I subscribed to all the magazines and papers. I didn't buy stocks, but did set up Ira mutual funds. I was 20 ish years old. Now I don't have a clue on that stuff. I focus on the farm, that's my retirement. I do put some into roths, but use EDJ for that. I don't get the enjoyment or have the time for it as I once did. I'll pay them a commission and have some free time for myself.
