Crawford County, Robinson, Illinois | I have a walnut one hanging on my shop wall. Dad broke his dividing board cutting clover hay. he had a walnut board, put the broken pieces of the original on top, and traced it. Drilled holes for the metal rod that stood up at the end and bolted it to the mower. Worked great until we got a mower conditioner. I wouldn't try to cut hay without one using a sycle bar mower, next pass plugs near the pittman if there is not enough space before the crop. Pittman? wonder how many remember those? Dad later bought a IH 120 balanced head mower that did away with the pittman, then you could let the bar deep into the ditch or up on the ditch bank without worrying about breaking the pittman. |
