Glasgow, Ky | My IH 3688 with the 436 would not start one morning. Had fuel flow to the pump so cracked a couple of injector lines and getting next to nothing. Thought I would check one more thing before pulling the pump. This pump has a mechanical fuel off/on mechanism tied to the throttle. Pulled lower inspection cover off pump and I could barely move the actuator rod. Pulled upper inspection cover off and started to gently work the throttle mechanism. After a short time the on/off mechanism freed up. Problem solved.
Anyone else ever had this happen? Got any idea why? Have had many IH motors through the years that use this pump and this was a first for me. Just wanted to share this as a troubleshooting tip.
