I would think you could change the sprockets. I sped one up one time by doing that. Don't see why you couldn't slow one down.
We went from an 8 row head and running it kind of fast, well ok, pretty fast, to a 12 row head and running it on the slow speed most of the time and it made a noticeable difference in the kernel loss.
