How about fabricating into the drag link from the steering box to the axle using the assist valve from a JD 95 combine and the assist cylinder as well. I junked out several 95's and saved these valves and cylinders. Other colors used them as well. Your effort on the steering opens the valve, it allows hydraulic fluid to the cylinder for assist on the steering. When the steering position matches your intentions, the valve will be closed until the next steering event. It has two lines from the hydraulic source and two to the assist cylinder.

I think some of the 600/800 series Fords had a valve installed in 1 of the drag links in a similar fashion.
